Aoi is a college student who has the ability to see ayakashi(a type of yokai), a trait she inherited from her deceased grandfather, Shiro Tsubaki. Her mother abandoned her while she was a child, because she wasn't able to put up with Aoi's ability. Aoi, however, is a very kind, caring and friendly young woman, although that is not to say she cannot be stubborn when she feels the need. One day, while Aoi is feeding some ayakashi, a demon appears, and declares that her grandfather, Shiro Tsubaki, owed a great debt, and as compensation, she must marry him. Aoi refuses, and decides to pay off the debt by working.
