Edna the main protagonist of the novel and manhwa adaptation Light and Shadow. Edna had two identities before becoming the Duchess of Westwald. Her mother, Cecil, wanted a son that could take over the throne, however, a girl was born, therefore she was disguised as a Prince and became known as "Prince Eden". After some time, the King and Queen of Ulswald got killed during the rebellion that was led by Cayden McGregor, the current King of Ulswald. Edna escaped the rebellion with the help of her mother, and Ophelia— her mother's trusted maid. Once Edna escaped, she ran to a monastery but was thrown out by the monks because she had nothing to offer. Wandering around the streets until she got capture by the ruffians and sold as a maid to Viscount William's home. Where she was used as a replacement for his eldest daughter— Anna that was ordered to be married to the Duke of Westwald. She then got married to the Duke as a sign of hope that using her title as Duchess, helping a nearby village, she can then repay the lives that died during her escape.
