Despite all the time that passed ever since the death of Meiko "Menma" Honma (Irène's beloved daughter), Irène had not been able to get over the tragic loss where is so caught up in her agony that she even puts her sadness over Satoshi Honma. She began to isolate herself over the years and will rarely leave the house. Although she won't show her emotions much and will always try to keep a happy, stable personality near people, there is near to no doubt that Irène is possessed by her inner desperation and grief. Although she is treating neither her husband nor her son insensibly or cold-heartedly, she still takes everything concerning her family for granted without showing them the needed attention or care. Due to her suffering from the death of Menma, this has led Satoshi to become invisible to her.
