Meerkat

Meerkat is a type of Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game. Meerkats are small mammals native to southern Africa. They're about 30 centimeters long and weigh less than a kilogram. Their tail is 20 centimeters long and pointed. They're brown with a lighter brown on their underbelly and a few darker spots on their lower back, imitating the ground they live on for protection. Their diet mostly consists of insects and spiders, but they also eat small lizards, birds, snakes and rodents. They constantly communicate quietly while hunting them. Meerkats live in tight-knit families, called mobs, of up to 40 members. They have around five burrows within their home range in which they spend their nights and middays to escape the African heat. The mobs have an alpha male and alpha female which will breed more young than any other male or female combined. The alpha female is very aggressive towards other females of the family when she is in heat. The mob will take turns skipping food for the day in order to take care of and protect the young even if they're not their own. Meerkats spend most of their days foraging and digging for food while sentries standing in elevated positions keep watch for dangerous predators such as falcons, hawks and jackals which they can spot in distances up to 400 meters. Mobs mark their territories and are very hostile towards another rival mob and will often try to kill them and their young. While meerkats can be tamed and kept to help hunt pests around farmland, they're wild animals and not suitable as pets at home. They're currently listed as least concern on the IUCN red list.
