A mischievous youth, the Skull Kid was initially close friends with all four of the Four Giants that guard Termina. Tragedy struck when the Four Giants all split up to guard different portions of the land, leaving the Skull Kid lonely and sad in their wake, accompanied only by a pair of fairy siblings named Tatl and Tael.
