Tarumi has a great attachment to Shimamura and is implied to have romantic feelings towards her as her contacting Shimamura is a frequent occurrence during her free time. This implication was also backed when she showed a dejected attitude during her phone call with Shimamura when she asked her to go to the second summer festival with her in which she rejected as she already has further plan with Adachi.
