Yukikaze

Yukikaze was one of 19 Kagero-class destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War. The Kagero class were based on improved designs of the previous Asashio class. Yukikaze was armed with three twin-12.7cm guns, up to 32 AA guns and 2x4 610mm torpedo tubes for carrying Type 93 Long Lance torpedos (plus a reload for each tube). Yukikaze had an eventful war career, taking part in the battles of Midway, Santa Cruz, Leyte Gulf and the battle of the Philippine Sea. Yukikaze also survived Operation Ten-Go - a Japanese operation that led to the destruction of the battleship Yamato and five other warships. Yukikaze survived the war and was transferred to the Republic of China Navy under the name Tan Yang, serving until 1966.
